San Patricio County was founded in 1836.

As of 2010, the population of San Patricio County is 64,804.

San Patricio County receives annual rainfall averages of 31 inches. Strong thunderstorms produced heavy downpours in October 1984 causing rainfall totals of 25 inches to fall in three and a half hours.

San Patricio County entered the regular National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in November 1971.
