Victoria County was founded in 1836.

As of 2010, the population of Victoria County is 86,793.

Victoria County receives annual rainfall averages of 32-40 inches. Several historic storms affected this area. Hurricane Carla’s eye moved directly over Victoria County in September 1961. Floods also devastated the area in October 1998, which greatly affected the area.

Victoria County entered the regular National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in September 1987.
